Up for auction is my super rare group of 8 Speed Precision Billet / ProShift Pro Shift CNC'd machined aluminum set of Front and rear derailleurs and Twist / Grip Shifters. This was probably the best shifting set of American made derailleurs and shifters and the rear derailleur especially, was the closest to the Shimano XTR XT stuff from the 90's. It’s better shifting than the Rhino, Joe’s, Paul, or other American made stuff. The Front derailleur is a work of art with its clean lines and aluminum brace and perfectly engineered since it will accept either top pull or bottom pull cable routing. No cracks or gouges in any of the derailleurs or shifters, and the front has a 34.9mm tube clamp diameter, if you need to fit a smaller diameter tube then you can get some derailleur shims cheap (not included since my frame was a 34.9mm).
The Twist shifters are also a work of art and bulletproof. These were an arm and a leg when they were introduced due to the high cost of production, but oh so worth it. They are incredibly easy to service since it only needs a few small bolts to be unscrewed and you can clean or lube the shifter in a matter of minutes to keep them running their best. The shifters have a satisfying click when shifting and pair well with their Proshift / Precision derailleurs. They are also compatible with the Shimano XT and XTR derailleurs from the same time period so if you want to use those too, you are not limited to drivetrain choice. If you want to change the rubber grips, you can use any of the Gripshift compatible ones from the Xray series as those are direct fit, however you can take a look at the grips and see what condition they are in. They are supple with no cracks, rips, tears, or disintegrating.
There are some light scratches from use on all of the parts but nothing that affects function. One of the shifters has a spot where the anodizing has rubbed off, and the steel cage on the front derailleur has some pitting but nothing bad.
I loved having these, but I am not riding as much and thought that these should go to another rider/collector who will use and appreciate them. Who knows the next time you will find the complete color matched group in this condition up for sale?
So if you were looking for that special set of shifters and derailleurs for your retro build but didn't want to settle for the XTR/XT stuff and will definitively set your bike apart from the crowd, then these might be for you.
I posted a pic of the reviews of the rear derailleur, and if you want to read them you can also go to the site mtbr com
Take a look at my other auctions for other vintage retro cycling parts. Thanks!
